RETIRED PDF ENLISTED MEMBERS’ ASSOCIATION (REMA) AIMS/OBJECTIVES

PDFREMA, referred to as REMA its working title from this point on, will seek to empower retired PDF retired Enlisted Personnel on matters of interest to them such as pensions and endeavour to give them a voice generally. The foregoing shall include efforts on behalf of qualifying widow/widower members.

The foregoing shall include efforts on behalf of qualifying widow/widower members.

SERVICE PENSION CONSULTATION AND REPRESENTATIONS

1.    REMA will seek to engage in consultations
and representations on service pension increases, deductions or reductions –
including disability pensions and gratuities; Below DF Medical Standards
pensions; short service gratuities; any non-statutory payments arising from
service with the United Nations – and on any similar aspects of the pensions
,gratuities or related benefits that apply or should apply as a result of
previous service.

2.     REMA will seek to enhance the
consultation process on aspects of pensions and supports efforts to introduce
collective bargaining in respect of such pensions.

 3.     REMA will seek to challenge the practice
of abatement of service pensions to try at least secure some easing of the
measure.

 STATE PENSION REPRESENTATIONS

 4.     REMA will seek to make representations on
the State Contributory Old Age Pension and co-ordination of same with the
service-related pensions. REMA will make representations on other aspects of
state retirement benefits such energy support payments.

5.     REMA will promote, support and advise
members who need information on or wish to avail of the official pensions
appeal and/or the Pensions Ombudsman mechanisms.

Employment and Education Matters

Provide information and advice to REMA members on employment and education opportunities including any associated benefits. Specifically advancing the interests of REMA members with the UN, EU, COE, OSCE specifically eg, posting of employment opportunities/supporting applications.

Schemes

REMA will endeavour to see the option of membership of PDFORRA schemes continue for members and, where appropriate and feasible, develop dedicated schemes for the membership.

PMAS

REMA will support and advise members on access to the Northern Ireland Planned Healthcare Scheme (NIPHS) and endeavour build up a fund to secure membership of PMAS for members. REMA will take any measures deemed necessary to support these activities eg opening an ANSAC account.

Rights

REMA will seek to protect and advance the Civil, Political, Economic, Social and Cultural rights of retired Enlisted Personnel both individually and collectively – and offer any support sought by PDFORRA in pursuit of the protection or advancement such rights for serving Enlisted Personnel.

Information & Communications

REMA will provide accurate, timely and relevant information on pensions and related developments in writing, digitally and in person.
As well as the above, PDFREMA will engage in any other matters impacting on retired Enlisted Personnel deemed appropriate by the National Executive Committee.
